KALIBO, Aklan–The 2nd dose of vaccinations has been rolled out to 2,417 Aklan healthcare workers which started last April 7, according to Dr. Cornelio Cuachon of the Aklan Provincial Health Office.
The inoculation drive began on March 10 and lasted until March 15, vaccinating health care workers with the first dose of Sinovac Vaccine.

The 2nd dose vaccination rollout started last April 7 and is set to be finished by April 12. The interval of doses varies per vaccine. Sinovac is taken 4 weeks (28 days) apart, while AstraZeneca is taken 4 to 12 weeks apart according to the Department of Health (DOH).
Cuachon also said that more than 109 Aklan front-liners were vaccinated by AstraZeneca and are ready to be vaccinated with the 2nd dose, although there are reports of cases of unusual blood clots with low platelets that have occurred in people who received Vaxzevria (formerly COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca).
While in the town of Malay, Aklan the active cases of COVID-19 went down to only 68 out of the 173 confirmed cases with 13 new recoveries and 3 recorded new cases which came from Barangay ManocManoc. This is based on the data given by the Malay Inter-Agency Task Force.
In the 68 total active cases, 34 of them came from Brgy. ManocManoc, 24 cases in Balabag, 7 were recorded from Brgy. Yapak and 3 in Caticlan.
All in all, the Province of Aklan has 1,307 confirmed cases wherein a total of 157 are active cases, recoveries are up to 1,115 in total while 35 deaths are recorded.
