As one of the mitigating measures to alleviate the economic difficulties experienced by its constituency amid the still surging COVID-19 pandemic, the 18th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan has extended the deadline for the payment of 2020 taxes on real properties within the territorial jurisdiction of the province to June 30, 2021.
The deadline extension has the corresponding condonation of interests, surcharges, and penalties.
The extension of the deadline and the condonation of penalties, interest, and surcharges are embodied in Tax Ordinance No. 2021 – 002 enacted and approved by the 18th SP during its regular session on January 11, 2021.
Recognizing the difficulties and challenges of the economic situation in the province and the drastically diminished income earning capacity of its people due to the global health emergency, the provincial legislative body, on request of Governor Florencio T. Miraflores, promptly considered passage of this tax relief measure.
Last year (2020), the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan, on April 19, 2020, passed Tax Ordinance No. 2020 – 001 extending the deadline for payment of the first (1st) quarter installment of real property tax in the Province of Aklan falling due on March 31, 2020, to June 30, 2020. Payment of penalties, surcharges, and interest was likewise condoned by the 18th SP.
