KALIBO, Aklan — A provincial task force to promote road safety is being pushed in Aklan province following a number of road accidents here.
The creation of said task force is part of the proposed ordinance at the Sangguniang Bayan of Aklan aiming to institute policies on road accident prevention and road safety practices and awareness scheme in the province.
The task force will be composed of different government officials and members of the private sector and will be headed by Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores.
The proposal aims to establish a mechanism to implement local and national traffic rules to avoid road accidents in different thoroughfares here.
It also pushes for the establishment of “30kph zones” and of school crossing patrol, pedestrian crossing lanes and public utility vehicle (PUV) stops.
SP members Jay E. Tejada and SP Nemesio P. Neron, proponents of said ordinance are confident it will be passed on 3rd and final reading in the next council session.
