NABAS, Aklan — The local government unit of Nabas, in partnership with the San Miguel Corporation, inaugurated the first diagnostic center in said Aklan town yesterday.
Nabas Mayor James Solanoy said the project, with an initial funding of PHP2.1 million for the building alone, would be funded by the San Miguel Corporation.
Aside from the building, the private company will also provide all the equipment for the center, the mayor said.
San Miguel controls the Boracay Airport in Caticlan, Malay through its affiliate Transaire Development Holdings Corporation.
Solanoy said this would be the first time that the LGU in Aklan would have its own diagnostic center for the people.
“The services will be free for residents of Nabas,” Solanoy said.
The mayor said the LGU’s counterpart was the 200 sq. meter lot only and everything would be funded by the San Miguel Corporation.
It is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to the town for being host to portions of the airport, he said.
Majority of the airport development sits in Nabas town, though the airport main facilities are in Caticlan, in mainland Malay, said Solanoy.
The diagnostic center is expected to be completed and operational within this year.
