Increase in passengers expected at the Kalibo International Airport in the coming days as travel restrictions eased

With the ease of travel restrictions in the province of Aklan, more passengers are expected to arrive and depart at the Kalibo International Airport.

On February 1, 2022, Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores issued a new Executive Order, scrapping the negative RT-PCR test result as a requirement for those going to the province, including Boracay Island.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) – Aklan Manager Engr. Eusebio Monserate Jr. said in an interview by Radyo Todo that, with the removal of the RT-PCR test requirement, they are expecting an influx of passengers at the Kalibo International Airport.

He said, as a result, they have also held meetings with stakeholders and operations units to prepare for the possible increase in the number of travelers at the airport.

Among what they have prepared is the set-up of the terminal building to ensure compliance with the government's minimum health standard.

However, Monserate said that since the said executive order was just recently issued, there are not many passengers yet, but they expect it to increase in the coming days.

He added that this is an opportunity for them to prepare for the incoming influx of passengers at the airport.

They expect more passengers heading to the Island of Boracay to pass through Kalibo International Airport this summer season.
