KALIBO, Aklan–The saliva-based RT-PCR test is now accepted and can be used as an alternative for the nasopharyngeal swab test as a pre-boarding requirement for those traveler going to the Province of Aklan.
Based on the recently released advisory of the Aklan Provincial Government, the saliva-based tests can be used as an alternative requirement when going to any parts of Aklan, except when entering Boracay Island. Since the Island has different requirements for the local tourists who wish to travel to the island.
Meanwhile, those travelers coming from outside the Western Visayas Region that will fail to present a negative RT-PCR test result and as well as those coming from places that don't have a molecular laboratory will need to present a notice of coordination from their LGU, then they must first undergo quarantine isolation upon their arrival, where they will be scheduled to undergo a swab test.
Travelers whose results turned out to be negative, no longer need to complete the quarantine and they will be allowed to leave the isolation facility.
With this regard the LGU of Malay passed Resolution No. 6 to the BIATF, asking to approve the Saliva-based RT-PCR test to the domestic tourists entering the Boracay Island.
