7 tourists caught in Boracay with Fake RT-PCR Test Result

The Provincial's validating team caught seven tourists from the NCR Plus Regions presenting a fake RT-PCR test as their pre-entry requirement to Boracay Island.

Malay Chief of Police Lt. Col. Don Dicksie De Dios said the provincial validating team discovered it was a fake Covid-19 test result on June 4.

“Nakakalungkot na balita. Mga ilang oras pagkatapos nilang lumapag, nalaman ng validating team na fake ang test results, colored photocopy documents. Nailipat natin sila sa kanilang mga hotels sa isla papuntang Kalibo,” he added.

(This is sad news. After a few hours upon their arrival, the validating team found out the tourist were using fake test results, colored photocopy documents. They are already transferred from their hotels on the Island and now headed to Kalibo.)

The tourists were transferred from their respective hotels to a quarantine facility in Kalibo, Aklan, where they will undergo mandatory swab testing.

De Dios urged tourists that before arriving in Aklan, they must obtain negative test results from licensed molecular laboratories.

"Malaki ang posibilidad na malalaman din na fake ang Covid-19 test results," he stressed.

(There's a huge possibility we will figure out you're using fake Covid-19 test results)

De Dios added that travelers with fake test results would face charges of violating Republic Act No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act and falsification of public documents of the Revised Penal Code.

The Department of Tourism (DOT)
also appealed to tourists to stop forging travel documents, else face criminal charges and fines.

Last April, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to investigate the rampant cases of tourists using false documents.

Some 180 tourists have been intercepted in airports and seaports for traveling to the province of Aklan and Boracay Island with fake RT-PCR tests.

Tourists must present negative saliva or swab tests and a confirmed booking DOT accredited hotel before entering Boracay.
