As travel restrictions continue to ease, tourists continue to crowd Boracay Island with more than 12,000 arrivals

Ever since Boracay Island reopened last September 8 and more travel restrictions are eased, tourists continue to flock to the famous white sand beach with more than 12,000 tourists arrivals.

Based on the Malay Tourism Office data, a total of 12,877 tourists visited the Island from October 1 to 17.

Travelers coming from the National Capital Region (NCR) remain the leading tourist arrivals to Boracay, wherein it accounts for 74% or 9,625 of the total visitors on the Island.

Though the recent tourist arrivals are still lower than the 35,108 visits last July, the highest recorded by the Malay Tourism Office during the pandemic, it is still a significant improvement.

Below is the list of the number of visitors who arrived in Boracay per region:

  • Ilocos- 63
  • Cagayan - 39
  • Central Luzon - 713
  • CALABARZON - 836
  • MIMAROPA - 28
  • Bicol - 44
  • Western Visayas - 322
  • Aklan - 861
  • Central Visayas - 120
  • Eastern Visayas - 48
  • Zambaonga - 27
  • Northern Mindanao - 53
  • Davao - 40
  • SOCCSSARGEN - 15
  • CARAGA - 6
  • BARMM - 1

The data also shows that 6,439 male tourists visited Boracay Island, while there were 6,438 female travelers.

Meanwhile, in terms of age groups, ages 13-59 accounts for 11,959 of the total visitor arrivals to Boracay, while there were 693 who were ages 0-12 years old, and 223 tourists are ages 60 and up.

Furthermore, people travel by air the most with 11,004 followed by land with 1743 and lastly, sea with 130.
