BIDA Bill had nothing to do with Boracay Island's rehabilitation project - BIATF

The Boracay Inter-Agency task Force (BIATF) denies that the proposed Boracay Island Development Authority (BIDA) Bill has any involvement or connection in the rehabilitation of Boracay Island.

In an exclusive interview by Radyo Todo with BIATF General Manager Dir. Natividad Bernardino, she said that the BIDA had nothing to do with the activities and projects that the task force did to rehabilitate the Island since BIDA does not exist yet.

“Wala pa namang BIDA, itong ginagawa namin mandato ito ng Boracay Inter-Agency task Force. Whether nariyan yung bida o hindi, gagawin namin to,” Bernardino said.

(The BIDA has yet to exist, what we're doing is the mandate of the Boracay Inter-Agency task Force. So whether there is BIDA or none, we're going to this.)

She also added that the COVID-19 pandemic affected their projects on the Island; that's why the President approved to extend the BIATF's term until June 30, 2022.

Bernardino also called the residents of Boracay for their support and cooperation to help revive the tourism in Boracay Island.

Earlier, the House of Representatives approved the third and final reading of the Boracay Island Development Authority Bill (BIDA Bill).
