BORACAY, Malay–The Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF) requests President Duterte for another one-year extension regarding the continuation of rehabilitating the Island of Boracay.
According to Sec. Roy Cimatu, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the BIATF chair said that the task force had an agreement to ask President Rodrigo Duterte to amend Executive Order No. 53.
May 8, 2018, the President appointed the BIATF the privilege of rehabilitating and restoring the world-famous resort island. It was set to be finished by May 8, 2020, but was given another year extension till May of 2021.
The Boracay Island Development Authority (BIDA) bill is said to replace it, according to President Duterte in his State of Nation Address (SONA). As of now, there is still no announcement regarding the BIDA bill being approved by congress. (By Mary Ann Solis)
