Boracay Island and the town of Malay reached 70% herd immunity - Malay LGU

Boracay Island and the town of Malay finally reached 70% herd immunity, and these areas have the highest vaccination percentage performance in all of Aklan.

The local government reached the target population to be vaccinated against CoViD-19.

For a community to reach herd immunity, 70% of the population must be vaccinated against CoVid-19.

The total population in the town of Malay is estimated to be 56,303, and according to the LGU Malay's COVID-19 Accomplishment Report, 39,916 individuals are now fully vaccinated as of Dec. 28, 2021.

It is equivalent to 101% of the target 39,412 vaccinees-70% of the population.

Of the projected population, 40,334 have received the first dose.

Meanwhile, the projected population in Boracay Island is 34,930, and 27,177 are now fully vaccinated in the A-C/ General population category as of Dec. 22, 2021; it is equivalent to 111.15% of the target population, which is 24,451 vaccinees. And 27,341 have received the first dose.

The local government also succeeded in vaccinating 70% or 17,471 tourism workers in the Island; they have exceeded the 70% threshold since a total of 17,828 tourism workers are now fully vaccinated or 102.04% of the target population.

Meanwhile, 16,728 have received their 1st dose.

Furthermore, in the pediatric population, 1,207 have received the 2nd dose or 40.23% of the target of 3000 vaccinees, while 1,822 have received the 1st dose.

In the whole region of Aklan, only the town of Malay has reached more than 100% percentage performance as of Dec. 27, 2021.
