From the 113,000 tourist arrivals last December 2021 to only over 30,00 this January, Boracay Island is suffering from the effect of the continuous rise of Covid-19 cases due to the Omicron variant.
According to the Malay Tourism Office data, only 30,605 travelers visited the Island from January 1 to 23, 2022. Last time, the total arrivals from January 1 to 16 was 28,060, which means, after a week, only 2,545 tourists went to the white beach.
Due to the RT-PCR requirement, travelers are holding back from going to Boracay.

Recently, there have been more female travelers visiting the Island with 15, 791 than male tourists with only 14, 814.
Meanwhile, as for the age groups, ages 13-59 still lead the list with 24,542, while 5,128 tourists are ages 0-12; however, travelers ages 60 and up dwindled to only 935.
More visitors traveled by air than land or sea; 22,360 traveled by air, 672 by sea, and 7,573 by land.
