Boracay Island scrapped the RT-PCR test requirement for fully vaccinated tourists starting Feb. 1; Latest Requirement for International and Local Tourists

Good news! Starting yesterday, February 1, 2022, Boracay Island no longer requires fully vaccinated tourists to present a negative RT-PCR test result upon entering the Island.

Governor Florencio Miraflores yesterday, February 1, issued Executive Order No. 001-A Series 2022 scrapping the RT-PCR test requirement for travelers going to Boracay Island.

Last January 9, due to the rising cases of Covid-19 in the country, Aklan officials reimposed the RT-PCR requirement for all tourists visiting the Island, regardless of their vaccination status, leading to cancelations of bookings. Thus, the number of tourist arrivals significantly dropped.

In an interview by Radyo Todo with Felix Delos Santos, Head of Malay Tourism Office, said that before the re-implementation of the RT-PCR requirement, tourists arrivals reached 3,000 to 4,000 per day. But it decreased to 300 to 400 only when the Aklan government required travelers to present a negative RT-PCR test.
