This world-famed resort island has received a total of 2,001,974 tourists in 2017 hitting its all-time high record.
The 2017 tourism data is higher by 16 percent compared to the 1,725,483 in 2016, based on the official record from the Malay Municipal Tourism Office showed.
Foreign tourist arrivals dominated last year with 1,052,975. The number of domestic tourists in the island also reached to 906,939 while overseas Filipinos were 42,069.
Filipino-American Bill Ryan Papa was registered as the 2-millionth tourist of the island who arrived at 6:15 PM on December 31, 2017.
China tops visitor arrivals
Meanwhile, Chinese tourists topped the foreign tourist arrivals in Boracay in 2017 replacing, South Korea on the top spot.
The island received a total of 375,284 Chinese tourists followed closely by South Korea with 356,644.
Tourists from Taiwan followed on the third spot with 40,802. United States of America with 22,648 and Malaysia with 20,585, took the fourth and fifth spot, respectively.
Also included in the top ten were tourists from United Kingdom (17, 416), Saudi Arabia (15,944), Australia (15,365), Russia (14,074) and Singapore (9,897).
Malay Chief Tourism Officer Felix Delos Santos said the good ties between the Philippines and China helped in the surge of Chinese arrivals in Boracay.
The rising number of cruise ship arrivals in Boracay and continued international promotions also helped in the increase of tourist arrivals last year, said Delos Santos.
The tourism officer said more international cruise lines are expected to dock in Boracay this 2018.
