The number of tourist arrivals in Boracay Island decreased from more than 183,000 travelers in July to only over 157,000 in August.
According to the Malay Tourism Office data, a total of 157,338 visited the Island last month, more than 26,000 less than the 183,096 who went in July.
Domestic tourists dwindled from 160,259 to only 132,820. The number of overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) decreased from 6,107 last July to 4,909.
On the bright side, foreign arrivals to Boracay Island have increased by almost 3,000. Since, 19,609 visited the famous Island last August, surpassing the record high figure in July with 16,730 international travelers.
According to the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6 data, total tourist arrivals have reached 1.17 million from January this year to August 27, 2022.
Of the total tourist arrivals, 390,157 are from the National Capital Region; 231,227 are from Region 6 (Western Visayas), 207,162 from Region 4-A (Calabarzon), and almost 78,000 are from abroad, including OFWs.
