Over 8,000 tourists visited Boracay Island this first week of February

In the first week of February, the famous Boracay Island saw only a little over 8,000 tourists visiting its shores.

According to the Malay Tourism Office data, a total of 8,449 travelers went to the Island from February 1 to 6, 2022, with almost half of the tourists' arrivals from the National Capital Region (NCR).

Tourist arrivals may start to pick up the pace once again since the Aklan government scrapped the RT-PCR test requirement last February 1; the Island will also soon welcome international travelers starting February 10.

Below is the list of the number of visitors who arrived in Boracay per region:

  • Central Luzon - 914
  • CALABARZON - 1,863
  • MIMAROPA - 12
  • Bicol - 30
  • Western Visayas - 562
  • Aklan - 400
  • Central Visayas - 78
  • Eastern Visayas - 31
  • Zambaonga - 12
  • Northern Mindanao - 21
  • Davao - 25
  • SOCCSSARGEN - 7
  • CARAGA - 6
  • BARMM - 1

TOTAL: 8,449

Meanwhile, a total of 4,338 female tourists went to Boracay, while there were 4,111 male travelers.

As for the age groups, ages 13-59 still lead the list with 6,100, while 2,098 tourists are ages 0-12 and 251 travelers age 60 and up.

Most visitors traveled by air than land or sea;  7,493 traveled by air, 941 by sea, and 15 by land.
