Picky E-trike drivers who choose and refuse passengers on Boracay Island will be fined and disqualified as PUV drivers

E-trike drivers who choose and refuse passengers, especially residents on the island of Boracay, may be disqualified and fined under the ordinance passed by Malay Sangguniang Bayan member Dante Pagsuguiron.

The ordinance was passed to address the issue regarding the e-trike drivers and problems related to it.

In an interview by Radyo Todo with  Malay SB member Pagsuguiron, he said there are indeed e-trike drivers who refuse and are picky in choosing passengers since his office is receiving many complaints about this.

Consequently, under his passed ordinance, authorities will impose the corresponding penalty and disqualify when a driver reaches three violations. They will no longer permit the violator to drive as a PUV driver on the island of Boracay.

Pagsuguiron added that some drivers do this due to the lack of implementation.

He also said that the Malay Transportation Office, in collaboration with the Boracay Land Transport Multi-Purpose Cooperative, needs to have massive implementation and monitoring.

In this regard, they will summon the various related agencies in Sangguniang Bayan to take more appropriate action on such problems on the island of Boracay, especially now that the tourism industry is slowly recovering after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
