The Indigenous Ati people of Boracay Island are now vaccinated against Covid-19

The Indigenous Ati people from the Ati village, Lugutan Manocmanoc, Boracay Island, have finally received their vaccination shots against Covid-19 yesterday, October 19, 2021.

The target is to vaccinate all 136 aged 18 years old and above, including three nuns.

From the mentioned number, 58 have now received their second dose or are now fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, seven were not vaccinated due to their health conditions and were re-scheduled to receive the dose by November.

The immunization activity of the 129 Ati took place at the Paradise Garden Hotel and CityMall Boracay as part of the Department of Health's (DOH) efforts to achieve herd immunity.

The Covid-19 vaccination in the province started last March 2021, and the implementation is still ongoing throughout the province to protect the citizens against Covid-19.

Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat once mentioned that as of September, about 74% of the tourism workers in Boracay Island are already vaccinated.
