The Local office of Malay issued Executive Order No. 20, series of 2021, declaring Zone 5 of Barangay Manoc-manoc under surgical lockdown starting yesterday, May 1.
The lockdown will last for 14 days, from 8:00 am on May 1 to May 14, 8:00 am. Depending on the number of COVID-19 cases in the Barangay, the Office of Malay may lift the surgical lockdown at a much earlier time.
The number of active cases of COVID-19 in barangay Manoc-Manoc rosed up to 46 as 13 new cases were recorded by the Local government of Malay yesterday.
Eight of the infected were from Sitio Ambulog, while five were from Zone 1, according to the barangay captain Nixon Sualog.
Sualog noted that all who got infected had close contact with a previously Covid-19 positive person; however, all of them seem asymptomatic.
Currently, they are isolated at Hennan resort and soon will be brought to the mainland's Covid-19 facility.
Furthermore, Sualog admitted that they had exhausted their funds to implement the lockdowns on the island.
Based on the Malay Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19 latest health bulletin, there are 46 active cases, where 60 already recovered and one death in Barangay Manoc-Manoc. As of April 29, there are a total of 82 active cases in Malay, with 198 recovered and two deaths.
