Restaurant Owners of the Philippines (Resto Ph) said that customers who don't have vaccination cards are not permitted to avail of dine-in services in the National Capital Region (NCR), following the implementation of the Alert Level 4 in NCR.
Under Alert Level 4, indoor dine-in services in restaurants, including those in hotels, and eateries are allowed at a limited 10% venue/seating capacity; however, they will cater only to individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Resto Ph president Eric Teng said for fully vaccinated customers to avail of dine-in services, they only need to present their local government unit-issued vaccination card.
"We reminded our members to be vigilant with enforcing the safety protocols. We post signs asking guests to present their vaccine card before being seated indoors," Teng said.
"Surprisingly, there are numerous guests wanting to dine indoors without vax cards, who have to be turned away unless there are outdoor dining spaces available," he added.
The restaurant owners group chief also clarified that even though unvaccinated individuals are not permitted to dine indoors, they can still dine outdoors.
He added that they only need to be vaccinated to be able to eat indoors.
Nonetheless, Teng said that "overall, the day has been positive for restaurant operators."
Meanwhile, Teng also stated that some of Resto Ph's member-restaurants offer special promos for health care workers as "a gesture of gratitude and support."
It is expected that there will be P180 million in revenues from restaurants, salons, and barbershops which are allowed to operate under Alert Level 4, albeit at a limited capacity, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez earlier said.
