The Department of Tourism plans to invite South Korean Superstars BTS and Hyun Bin to boost tourism in the Philippines.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said that before the pandemic, the "Crash Landing On You" actor, Hyun Bin, was supposed to visit the country and go to Boracay or Bohol.
"So that's my goal, Hyun Bin, and BTS," she said.
Sec. Puyat assured that the celebrities would be accompanied only by "fully vaccinated" people.
In Mariz Umali's "24 Oras" report last Friday, the invitation was seen to help boost tourism after lifting the age restriction for domestic travel.
"I always ask our attaché that if possible, they should ask their media to come and bring Hyun Bin along with them," Sec. Puyat said in Filipino.
According to the report, South Koreans, the Philippines' top foreign visitors, desired to revisit the country and many other international tourists as well.
Puyat said despite the pandemic, many foreign film outfits successfully finished shooting in several locations in the Philippines, such as Caramoan in Camarines Sur and El Nido in Palawan.
Currently, only returning Filipinos (balikbayans) are allowed to travel to the Philippines.
However, Puyat said the DOT is pushing for its "Green Lane" initiative, which aims to shorten the quarantine period for fully vaccinated balikbayans and international tourists.
She added that they were also studying if it was possible for fully vaccinated arrivals to no longer be quarantined anymore if it could be proven that they were immune from the virus.
