The Bureau of Immigration (BI) stated on Friday that outbound Filipino tourists must-have a travel and health insurance for Covid-19 that will cover the duration of their stay abroad.
“Outbound tourism is allowed for Filipinos, subject to compliance with protocols set by the IATF,” BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said.
He added, departing Filipinos are subject to regular immigration inspection at the country’s international ports.
Last year, the ban on non-essential travel of Filipinos was lifted, following the resolution from the IATF.
The BI also clarified the misinformation spreading online regarding only certain travel insurance brands are accepted.
“Such is not the case. Any travel and health insurance brand, as
long as it covers Covid-19, may be used by departing Filipino tourists," Morente said.
“Unscrupulous individuals have been using the name of the BI to sell insurance, hence the need to issue this clarification,” he stated
Morente added that under the IATF resolution, outbound Filipino tourists still need to present a round trip ticket and travel and health insurance for Covid-19.
They are also required to sign and submit a declaration acknowledging the risk of their travel at airline check-in counters.
