Travelers coming from Red listed countries can now enter PH starting Jan. 16

Persons coming from red-listed countries can now enter the Philippines, as the government updated its quarantine and testing protocols for travelers arriving from abroad.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles explained the new rules during a Malacañang press briefing.

According to the update, instead of the previous 72-hour test requirement, travelers can get a COVID-19 swab test 48 hours before their departure.

However, results of RT-PCR tests taken 72 hours before departure will remain effective until January 19, Nograles said.

Unfortunately, foreign tourists are still not allowed to enter the Philippines, and only Filipinos, diplomats, and foreigners with special business or permanent resident visas can enter.

In addition, starting February 16, foreign nationals must present proof of full vaccination before they can enter the country. The following, however, are exempted from this requirement:

  • Children below 18 years old
  • People who are medically unable to receive the vaccine, as certified by a competent public health authority in their country of origin
  • Foreign diplomats and their qualified dependents or 9(e) visa holders
  • Below are the updated rules.
