A Boracay-based group called Pinay Boracay brought the taste of the island to Negros Occidental through their participation at the 17th Negros Island Organic Products and Local Foods Festival. The festival, known for showcasing the region’s rich agricultural bounty and culinary traditions, welcomed the group to showcase Boracay’s distinct menu, adding a welcome layer of variety to the event.
Pinay Boracay’s offerings included a selection of dishes designed to capture the essence of Boracay’s culinary scene. Featured items included Native Chicken Adobo sa Gata (native chicken adobo in coconut milk), Sinanlag nga Ulang (a local fresh water shrimp dish), and other local specialties. The group’s stall, located near the Capitol Lagoon, attracted significant attention from festival-goers eager to sample these unique flavors.
The group’s presence at the festival was a limited-time event, running until November 23rd. The event underscored the growing popularity of food festivals as a way to showcase both local and regional culinary traditions. The success of Pinay Boracay’s participation suggests a growing interest in exploring the diverse culinary landscape of the Philippines, extending beyond the usual regional boundaries. Boracay, already renowned for its beaches, is now further establishing itself as a destination with a vibrant and noteworthy food scene that enhances the overall visitor experience.
