Boracay Island celebrated Tourism Week 2024 with a powerful commitment to environmental sustainability, culminating in the successful completion of #ProjectPristine, a week-long coastal and underwater clean-up drive.
From September 9-15, a diverse group of volunteers, including tourism frontliners, service providers, associations, cooperatives, private stakeholders, and other tourism enthusiasts, joined forces to preserve the pristine beauty of the island.
The LGU-Malay, led by Mayor Hon. Frolibar S. Bautista, and the Municipal Tourism Office, under the leadership of Dr. Felix G. Delos Santos Jr., expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all participants.
“Your commitment to environmental sustainability has truly made a lasting impact on our community and its future,” said Dr. Delos Santos Jr.
Championing Sustainability and Protecting Marine Life: #ProjectPristine actively supports SDG 14: Life Below Water by reducing pollution and protecting marine biodiversity through underwater clean-ups.
The project also aligns with SDG 15: Life on Land by restoring ecosystems and promoting biodiversity through conservation efforts.
The clean-up drive reflects the community’s strong dedication to ensuring that Boracay Island and the Municipality of Malay remain thriving ecosystems for generations to come.
