Boracay Emerges as Top Holiday Hotspot for Filipinos this Christmas According to Air Asia bookings

The yuletide season is fast approaching, and while some families prefer to celebrate the holidays at home, some opt to travel and celebrate at a fun destination such as Boracay.

According to recent data from AirAsia Philippines, Boracay island stands out as the ultimate holiday destination for many Filipinos, as evidenced by the number of bookings they amassed ahead of the 2023 Christmas holidays.

The renowned island, known for its pristine beaches and vibrant atmosphere, has secured its place as one of the top domestic spots for festive getaways between December 20 and December 31 this year.

Boracay share the spot for top five domestic destinations with Cebu, Panglao, Davao, and Tacloban.

Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines’ spokesperson and first officer, highlighted the shift in holiday traditions among Filipino families.

“Traditionally, Filipino families prefer to spend reunions at home or visiting the homes of loved ones. However, others, especially those who missed their summer vacation, choose to spend their holiday by the beach to experience a different kind of ‘white Christmas’”, Dailisan noted in a statement.

This surge in interest isn’t limited to families alone. Younger, adventurous souls seek a different holiday vibe, opting to celebrate the season with peers in regional destinations like Boracay.

“In the same manner, younger, more adventurous individuals who’d like to have a short break from work prefer to spend their holiday get-aways with their peers and explore regional destinations outside the Philippines,” he added.

With its allure of sun, sand, and sea, the island has magnetized individuals keen on breaking away from work and exploring beyond the Philippines’ borders.

As Boracay beckons travelers with its crystal-clear waters and festive ambiance, it solidifies its reputation as the go-to destination for an unforgettable Christmas escape.
