Celebrating these nominations, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco emphasized their significance. She praised them as a testament to the undying allure of the country, its energetic post-pandemic recovery, and the groundbreaking initiatives that have enhanced the Philippines’ global standing as a holistic tourism hotspot.
Frasco triumphantly declared, “These nominations, combined with our recent milestone of welcoming three million foreign visitors, are a resounding endorsement of our efforts to reintroduce the Philippines to the world. They spotlight the multitude of reasons to fall head over heels for the Philippines and mirror our unyielding efforts to welcome back tourists with an even stronger foundation, focusing on infrastructure, connectivity, digitalization, and an upgraded overall tourism experience.”
The esteemed Wanderlust Travel magazine is celebrating its 22nd anniversary this year, continuing its legacy of acknowledging the best and brightest in the tourism industry. The judges, a diverse group of seasoned travelers, independent experts, and Wanderlust’s own discerning readers, will announce the winners in November during a glittering ceremony at the iconic British Museum.
Last year, Palawan, a favorite jewel in the Philippine archipelago, captured the Gold Award for the ‘Most Desirable Island for the Rest of the World’ category. The nation is hoping for a triumphant repeat performance this year.
