International Management Group (IMG) recently presented their strategic initiatives to the Department of Tourism (DOT) to capitalize on the fast-rising golf tourism industry in the country.
In a meeting at the DOT Central Office in Makati City with DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, delegates from IMG outlined their plans to enhance the country’s standing in the global sports tourism landscape.
As a world-renowned management and marketing agency with a rich history of over 50 years in golf event management, IMG Golf brings unparalleled expertise to the table, having organized and promoted over 800 events globally.
Secretary Frasco welcomed the presentation with enthusiasm, noting that this aligns with the DOT’s vision of positioning the Philippines as a premier hub for sports tourism.
Highlighted during the discussion was the Philippines’ impressive array of golf courses, totaling over 100 across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, boasting some of the finest courses in Asia.
Among these destinations is Boracay, home to the prestigious Fairways and Bluewater resort. This exclusive property, recognized by Condé Nast Johansens guide as one of the world’s top luxury resorts, features the island’s only golf course. Designed by Graham Marsh, the 18-hole, par 72 layout spanning 6,524 yards has hosted esteemed international golf tournaments.
The information exchange between IMG and the DOT signifies a significant development in Boracay’s tourism landscape. As the island embraces golf tourism, the presence of more world-class golf courses will attract golf enthusiasts and elevate Boracay’s appeal as a premium destination.
This strategic collaboration has the potential to not only boost tourism in Boracay but also enhance the overall visitor experience, positioning the island as a coveted location for golf and luxury travel enthusiasts.
