Philippines and UK Strengthen Trade Ties Through Meat Trade Briefing

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) recently engaged in the Philippine-British Meat Trade Briefing and Reception organized by the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines, highlighting efforts to enhance trade facilitation between the two nations.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Michael Fermin shared BOC’s progress under the 5-Point Priority Program, emphasizing initiatives to simplify cross-border trade procedures and promote efficiency in trade processes.

The event, held in collaboration with the UK Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), underscores the ongoing commitment to streamline trade processes and foster economic cooperation between the UK and the Philippines.

With a focus on mitigating inflation and promoting food security, the briefing aligns with the British Chamber’s mission to support economic resilience and public health through strategic trade partnerships.

A core objective of the briefing is to advance regulatory developments and digitalization initiatives within the BOC, led by Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio. Through Commissioner Rubio’s leadership, the Bureau has achieved significant milestones in fulfilling its mandates and driving improvements in cross-border trade processes.

Commissioner Rubio emphasized the event’s importance in strengthening international partnerships, driving economic growth, and enhancing service delivery to the public and stakeholders.

The collaboration between the Philippines and UK in the meat trade sector signifies a step towards greater bilateral cooperation and trade enhancement between the two countries.

This development in trade ties between the Philippines and the UK could potentially impact Boracay positively by opening up opportunities for expanded trade and economic partnerships.

As a renowned tourist destination, Boracay stands to benefit from increased trade activities, potentially leading to economic growth, job creation, and enhanced services for residents and visitors on the island.
