Bahrain is gearing up to host the 9th UN Tourism World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism will be held on November 18-19, 2024, bringing together leading experts in tourism and gastronomy from around the world.
This annual event, organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and its affiliate member, the Basque Culinary Center (BCC), in collaboration with the Government of Bahrain, aims to explore the growing importance of gastronomy tourism as a driver of economic growth and cultural exchange.
The forum will provide a platform for participants to engage in insightful discussions, share best practices, and explore innovative strategies for developing and promoting gastronomy tourism destinations. The event will focus on key themes such as sustainable gastronomy tourism, the role of gastronomy in destination development, and innovation in gastronomy tourism. It aims to provide a vital platform for sharing knowledge, collaborating on new initiatives, and driving the growth of gastronomy tourism worldwide.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) has yet to announce its participation in the 9th UN Tourism World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism.
The 8th UN Tourism World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism was held in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain, from October 5-7, 2023. During the event, Chef Fatmata Binta and world-renowned Basque Chefs Martín Berasategi and Pedro Subijana were appointed as Ambassadors for Sustainable Tourism, recognizing their work in gastronomy, the enhancement of local produce, and community development.
