PhilinCon embraces sustainability with SDSN membership

Philippine Initiative for Conservation of Environment and the People (PhilinCon), a member of the UN-Sustainable Development Network Philippines (SDSN-Philippines), participated in the Leadership Council Meeting and General Assembly held at De Lasalle University in Manila on September 26, 2024.

Dr. Rebecca Tandug Barrios, PhilinCon’s executive director, represented the organization, which is one of four CSOs in the country.

The SDSN-Philippines brings together 35 universities, think tanks, and thought leaders to promote sustainable development. PhilinCon’s participation in the network will help to advance sustainability initiatives in the Philippines, including in Boracay.

Boracay has undergone significant rehabilitation efforts to address environmental concerns. The island’s stakeholders have committed to implementing sustainable practices, such as reducing single-use plastics and promoting reusable containers and bags.

PhilinCon’s participation in the SDSN-Philippines will provide valuable insights and resources to support these efforts. The network’s focus on sustainable development aligns with the government’s vision for Boracay, which aims to ensure the island’s long-term viability and accessibility for all Filipinos.

PhilinCon’s involvement in the SDSN-Philippines will contribute to the ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable and inclusive future for Boracay.
