Malay wins 11 tourism awards at PAGDAYAW 2024

The municipality of Malay, home to the world-renowned Boracay Island, received 11 awards at the PAGDAYAW 2024 awards ceremony on December 9th. The awards, presented by the Department of Tourism Region VI, recognize outstanding contributions to the tourism sector.

Malay was lauded for its top performance in DOT accreditation campaigns, boasting the most accredited community tour guides and tourism enterprises in Western Visayas in 2023. The municipality also received recognition for its contributions to tourism statistics compilation, product development, and multidimensional tourism products.

Further accolades included top MICE destination, leading overnight visitor arrivals, and regional nominations for Boracay Island’s cruise destination and overall tourism excellence.

Several Boracay businesses also received individual awards for their contributions to the tourism industry. Dr. Felix G. Delos Santos Jr., Chief Tourism Operations Officer, received a special recognition for his leadership in capacity-building.
