Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco has lauded the vital role of tour guides in promoting Philippine tourism, recognizing them as the “heart and soul” of the industry.
As part of the DOT’s commitment to supporting these tourism ambassadors, the Secretary distributed essential kits and personal accident insurance to tour guides in Cebu.
“As we celebrate the gains of tourism in the Philippines, we must honor the unsung heroes of this industry—our tour guides,” stated Secretary Frasco. “They are our storytellers, ambassadors of our culture, guardians of our heritage, and the heart and soul of the Philippine tourism experience.”
In Cebu, the DOT distributed tour guide kits to members of the Cebu Association of Tour Guides (CAT-G) and Frontliners, Academe, and Guides Guild (FLAGG) in recognition of their dedication to showcasing the beauty and culture of the Philippines. Each kit includes essential items for tour guides, such as sunblock, sunglasses, a hat, an electronic lapel with speaker, and a tumbler.
The DOT also provided each tour guide with personal accident insurance worth Php 50,000.
“Together, we will continue to showcase the beauty and culture of our nation as the world continues to discover the many reasons to Love the Philippines,” Secretary Frasco added, highlighting the crucial role of tour guides in this effort.
