Globe Starts 2026 Strong: More Data, More Fiber, More Filipinos Connected

Globe Telecom is proving that in 2026, connectivity is no longer just about signal bars—it’s about powering lifestyles, businesses, and digital inclusion nationwide.

The telecommunications giant opened the year with sustained growth, reporting ₱42 billion in consolidated gross service revenues for the first quarter of 2026, up 5% year-on-year, fueled by strong mobile data demand, expanding fiber adoption, and resilient enterprise solutions. EBITDA climbed 7% to ₱22.2 billion while maintaining a healthy margin of 52.8%.

Globe’s digital-first direction is becoming increasingly evident, with 91% of total service revenues now driven by data-related services—from mobile internet and broadband to enterprise digital solutions.

Among the standout milestones: GFiber Prepaid reached one million subscribers, signaling growing demand for affordable and flexible internet access among Filipino households. Meanwhile, Globe’s mobile subscriber base climbed to approximately 67 million users, supported by rising 5G adoption and stronger data consumption habits.

“We are pleased to have sustained our momentum into the first quarter of 2026, delivering resilient topline growth of 5% year-on-year,” said Carl Raymond R. Cruz.

“This was driven by disciplined execution and prudent cost management, resulting in a 7% increase in EBITDA and a 9% uplift in Core NIAT. Sustained demand across mobile and broadband, continued expansion in fiber, and the growing contribution from our digital ecosystem supported this solid start to the year.”

The company is also betting heavily on infrastructure. Globe invested ₱12.7 billion in capital expenditures during the quarter, expanding network capacity, deploying 43,084 new fiber-to-the-home lines, and adding 408 new 5G sites across strategic locations nationwide. 5G coverage now reaches over 98% of the population in Metro Manila and key cities in Visayas and Mindanao.

Globe’s fintech ecosystem continues to strengthen as well. Mynt, the parent company of GCash, contributed 30% of Globe’s pre-tax income, reinforcing how digital financial services are becoming a major growth engine beyond traditional telecommunications.

Looking ahead, Globe says the mission remains clear: strengthen connectivity, expand digital platforms, and keep customers at the center of innovation despite economic headwinds.

“Moving forward, our priority is execution—delivering a best-in-class customer experience, operating with focus, and investing where it matters most,” Cruz added.

“We will continue to expand our 5G network, deepen our fiber footprint, and scale our digital platforms to better serve the evolving needs of our customers.”

Beyond business performance, Globe also earned recognition as the highest-ranked company in Southeast Asia in the 2026 Digital Inclusion Benchmark, reinforcing its growing role not only as a telco leader but as a driver of inclusive digital transformation.

In a world increasingly powered by data, Globe’s first quarter message is straightforward: growth isn’t slowing down—it’s getting faster.
