The Province of Aklan and LGU Kalibo have once again triumphed at the 35th Philippine Travel Mart, held from September 6-8, 2024 at the SMX Convention Center Manila.
Hosted by the Philippine Tour Operators Association, the event saw Aklan’s captivating cultural presentation, “HINABOE,” secure the coveted Best Presentation Award for a second consecutive year. The show, directed by Ryan Salazar Lopez, showcased the centuries-old weaving tradition of Aklan.
Aside from the presentation, Aklan’s pavilion booth also claimed the 2nd Runner Up – Best Booth in the Regional/Provincial Category. LGU New Washington followed suit with the 2nd Runner Up – Best Booth City/Municipality Category, while LGU Kalibo secured the 1st Runner Up – Best Booth City/Municipality Category.
The event also saw participation from Malay LGU and a good number of Boracay hotels and resorts, including Paradise Island, La Carmela, and Movenpick, among others.
The Philippine Travel Mart, one of the country’s longest-running travel fairs, aims to revitalize local tourism by highlighting emerging destinations. Aklan’s continued success at this event underscores the province’s commitment to showcasing its rich cultural heritage and captivating tourist attractions.
